Work on Intea's project in the Bettorp area of Örebro in central Sweden is now in full swing. In November, ground was broken on the 16,000 sqm site as Serneke began work.

The project started in 2015, and five years on it can now be seen from the E20 motorway, just east of the exit to route 50. Since the 15-year lease was signed just over a year ago, the project has grown in size from 11,600 sqm to some 12,300 sqm.

The new premises will be shared by several authorities to manage both day-to-day and major events. The project is the first of its kind and is being followed with great interest both in Sweden and internationally as an example of a new type of collaboration between authorities.

One of the initiators of the project in 2015 was Regional Police Commissioner Dan Persson, who, just before retiring, is now able to see the fruits of many years’ work coordinating the activities of several different authorities under one roof.

"It’s really pleasing to be able to stand here today and see our ideas taking shape," says Regional Police Commissioner Dan Persson of the Bergslagen Police Region.

The building is being constructed to high security and sustainability standards, and the aim is to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification.

"A lot of time and effort has been put into ensuring a safe environment for those working in the building. Together, we’ve also endeavoured to create sustainable solutions that help cut energy consumption and emissions," says Kjell-Åke Nilsson, Head of Business Development at Intea.

Completion is scheduled for 2023.
