A request for a planning decision was submitted to start work on a new zoning plan for a new police station in Ystad in southern Sweden. Work on the new Ystad police station has been ongoing since summer 2020, when Intea and the Swedish Police Authority signed a design contract for continued cooperation.

The site of the new police station is the Hälsobacken area of Öja, along the eastern approach road to the city. The new police station is expected to be completed in 2024 and will replace the existing one built in 1974. The lettable area is estimated to be around 8,000–10,000 sqm. The building will have three floors and a maximum height of 14 metres. The aim is for the building to be certified to the BREEAM Excellent standard. BREEAM Excellent certification..

"We’re currently working on a number of projects with the Swedish Police Authority to build new police stations around Sweden. It’s exciting to be involved in developing a new police station in such a great location in Ystad. The new building will be constructed to high architectural and sustainability standards," says Kjell-Åke Nilsson, Head of Business Development at Intea.

The location of the new police station has been chosen based on factors such as accessibility, security and the environment. At present, the site is largely surrounded by fields, but there are plans to build on these. It is easily accessible by bike, bus and car for both citizens and employees.
