Intea Fastigheter AB (publ) and Vitartes AB have entered into a partnership to build buildings 2 and 3 of the Sahlgrenska Life project in Gothenburg.

Sahlgrenska Life comprises specially adapted facilities for life sciences, highly specialist health care, advanced research, teaching and business development. The new buildings will link Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the medical departments at Medicinareberget.

The project has been developed by Vitartes together with Västfastigheter, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the University of Gothenburg. The project, which has been running for a number of years, has recently entered a more intensive phase. Vitartes will continue to develop buildings 2 and 3 together with Intea, which will also be the long-term owner.

"In addition to facilities for the areas of justice and higher education, health care is a priority growth area for Intea. Being involved in the early phase of the project gives us excellent opportunities to adapt and prepare the new buildings for long-term management by us," says Intea’s Christian Haglund.

Buildings 2 and 3 will provide around 55,000 sqm of specially adapted premises. Project design is underway and a new zoning plan has been put out for consultation. Construction is preliminarily scheduled to start in spring 2021, with the buildings expected to be completed in 2024.

"We’ve been working for a long time to create the basis for a translational research centre in a strategic location in Gothenburg. We now have the right location and the right partner to take the next step towards achieving our vision," says Steinar Stokke.

In December 2018, SveaNor acquired Hemsö Fastighets AB's shareholding in Vitartes AB, so Vitartes is now able enter into other collaborations. Hemsö will remain a co-owner and partner in Vitarte's project in Hagastaden.
