The Viskan prison expands further

Intea invests an additional SEK 250 million in the reconstruction of the Viskan prison.

The Viskan prison, which is leased by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service until 2045, currently accommodates 144 places and has undergone an extensive renovation and reconstruction before becoming operational in January 2025. Shortly thereafter, Intea reached an agreement with the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to expand the facility to a total of 264 places. Since then, planning of the extension has been ongoing, and the project has gradually increased in scope, including, among other things, more extensive reconstruction of the prison’s activity and work areas.

The annual rental value related to the approved increased investment is calculated based on the costs incurred in the project and is estimated to amount to just over SEK 27 million, in the form of a non-indexed annuity-based annual additional rent which will be paid from the estimated completion in autumn 2027 until 2045.
