Intea adds nine more hydropower plants in western Sweden and achieves energy self-sufficiency with renewable electricity. At the same time, the company is consolidating the Group’s electricity production in the company Intea Kraft AB.

Intea has had a target of becoming fully self-sufficient with renewable electricity. The creation of Intea Kraft provides a platform with the expertise to optimise management and continue the development of electricity production within the Group. Following the acquisition, the portfolio now consists of twelve hydropower plants, mainly in electricity area 3, with an estimated total annual electricity production of 11.5 GWh.

The production managed by Intea Kraft and from the solar panel systems on Intea’s properties equates to approximately 103 percent of the Group’s electricity consumption. The aim is for the electricity generation to continue to grow in line with Intea’s acquisitions and completion of the project portfolio in the coming years. In total, ongoing projects amount to about 190,000 sqm, with an estimated investment of SEK 11.3 billion by 2028.

“One of Intea’s specific sustainability goals has been to produce as much electricity as the Group consumes, so we have now achieved that. We like the special characteristics of hydropower and are continuing with our efforts to complement it mainly with solar power systems on our existing properties,” says Henrik Lindekrantz, CEO of Intea.

“With this step, we believe that there are good opportunities for improving the production, control and management of our units to further increase efficiency. We also see great potential in terms of adding more production units and scaling up operations,” says Henrik Olsson, Head of Property at Intea Fastigheter and newly appointed CEO of Intea Kraft.
